I'm a medical writer and journalist with a doctorate in the life sciences. I cover the parts of medicine that shape what clinicians know: continuing medical education, medical communications, scientific publishing, and the writing professions behind all three — and what happens to each of them as generative AI moves in.
Most reporting on AI in health care is about clinical care and diagnostics. Far less attention goes to the infrastructure of medical knowledge itself, which is being rebuilt right now with very little scrutiny. That's the beat.
I chair the AI Committee at the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions, and I teach practicing medical writers how to use these tools responsibly. I've been a member of the Association of Health Care Journalists since 2022.
